Like everyone, I have my flaws, and my most useful flaw is that I am easily bored. So I am someone who is always picking up a new passsion.
My ceaseless curiosity has led me through many great adventures all around the world. I started in Portland, Oregon and travelled from north
to south and west to east, eventually leaving the country altogether to live in Prague, Czech Republic.
I earned a B.A. in English Literature at Lewis & Clark College. It was there that I developed a love for helping
others discover the clarity of a well-written sentence and the power of a well-chosen word. I went on to work in customer service, banking,
technology, tourism, and entertainment. I spend my free time playing music, watching movies,
reading books, and talking about all three.
When the pandemic hit, I was working in Prague as a tour guide. Needless to say, there weren't so many travellers any more. Luckily, I had already started
learning to program and I decided to dive into learning it full time. With the help of online resources like freecodecamp and codecademy, I learned
HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React. Within 9 months, I got an opportunity to work for a company in Prague if I could learn Ruby on Rails and program an address
book application within 3 weeks (you can see the finished result here in my portfolio). I got the job, and I have been programming ever since.
Now I am a freelance web developer specializing in Ruby on Rails, and I'm also a copywriter and editor. I tour guide and teach saxophone from time to
time, too. I love staying busy and solving tough problems with passionate people -- let me know if you want to work together!
